AZ Historical Society Museum Guided Tour - Saturday, April 12th

Hosted by Tucson Illini Alum - Frank Ratey

What was the role of Abraham Lincoln in the history of Arizona and why is President Lincoln important to both the U of I AND the U of A?

How have Arizonans been able to satisfy their basic necessities in the challenging Arizona environment?  The answers to these and many other questions about our state's history can be discovered by joining Tucson Illini alums and guests on this guided tour given by fellow alum, club board member and museum guide, Frank Ratey.

You will become acquainted with the evolving map of Arizona, how settlers managed to get around, how the museum collects, preserves and displays artifacts, the importance of copper mining in our state's development, the story behind the most famous Arizonan of all, Geronimo.  Also, furnishings from the early territorial days and the ongoing efforts to discover Tucson's origins will be presented and discussed.

This event is open to all who are interested and is suitable for all ages.  Children greatly enjoy the hands-on activities of Exploring Tucson in the 1870's.  This tour only takes about an hour and visitors can return to any exhibit to learn more.

Frank has made arrangements for free admission!  Parking is also free at the garage at 2nd and Euclid.  The museum is across Park Avenue from the U of A and 1 block north of University Avenue.
